George Herbert

This chapel of ease is the resting place of George Herbert, a 17th century poet and priest. It is not licensed for weddings, but we do have baptisms and funerals here occasionally. It only seats 30.

Directions

Visitors travelling by car or coach are advised that the local roads are very narrow, and the church should be approached with care. It is possible to park a few cars just to the East of the church in Lower Road, but coaches or larger vehicles should use the Bemerton Recreation Ground car park opposite St. John's church, 200 yards to the West. Public toilets are available at this car park. Coaches and larger vehicles should avoid approaching from the North (Church Lane) which is unsuitable for heavy traffic.
